The Community Sustainability Grants were previously focused around waste reduction, and enabled community groups to apply small grants of up to $2000 to achieve their waste reduction goal.
In early 2023, the grants were reviewed and updated to include a broader range of sustainability initiatives. Grant applications can now address one of the following funding priorities from one of the following streams areas:
The Built Environment Audit project was an outcome of the South Coast Alliance, together with the Shires of Jerramungup, Plantagenet, Denmark and the City of Albany. The report outlines results for 10 typical buildings identified in each of the Local Government Areas, with the aim of facilitating operational improvements to the facilities. Facilities within the City of Albany audited were:
The report identifies a range of opportunities which will help to guide future actions to provide reasonable and practical energy, water and emissions reductions.
Delivered through the South Coast Alliance, together with the City of Albany and the Shires of Denmark, Plantagenet and Jerramungup. This project funded carbon footprints audits for 2 local businesses from each of the local government areas, with the aim to produce information that may help similar businesses to implement energy efficiency measures.
