As a Gold Waterwise Council, the City undertakes annual reporting against a number of Corporate and Community Water Actions for potable and non-potable water consumption from our Waterwise Council Action Plan.
The Waterwise Council Program, jointly run by the Water Corporation and the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation, supports local governments to improve water efficiency and adopt waterwise practices in their operations and communities.
The recognition scheme acknowledges councils demonstrating leadership in sustainable water management, with Gold status for top-performing councils and a Platinum award for the council of the year.
The City has participated in the Water Corporation's Showerhead Swap program since 2018. Residents can swap their old inefficient showerhead for a new water efficient WELS 4-star rated model for free.
The City of Albany Library provides easy access for community members to swap over showerheads.
