Description
The City's Community Waste Resource Strategy aligns with the State Government's Strategy to divert waste from landfill. This is particularly important as the current Hanrahan Road Landfill nears the end of its life and future solutions will come at significant cost to the community.
The City promotes waste minimisation through the kerbside FOGO service and various drop-off options at Fossicker's Tip Shop and Hanrahan Road Waste Facility.
Commercial waste makes up a significant share of Albany’s landfill, and the City is looking at ways to work with local businesses to reduce it.
